A Fond Farewell To Our Friend Steve

Celebrating 47 Years of Dedication – Farewell to Steve LeBlanc

In November 1978, a young Steve LeBlanc joined our team as a parts driver, never imagining it would be the start of a 47-year career. From his first days delivering parts to eventually mastering every corner of the shop, Steve has been a steady hand, a trusted mentor, and a cornerstone of Carstar’s success.

Back then, Steve was a teenager with a love for cars and a strong work ethic—driving parts during the day, saving for his first Firebird, and learning the ropes wherever he could. He painted the entire service department one summer, stepped in to help when the body shop manager was away, and jumped at every opportunity to expand his skills, from detail work to frame school. It was a small operation then—just one bay, everything under one roof—and you could grab a Mama Burger with fries for 25 cents from A&W right where our break room exists today.

When asked about his favourite memories, Steve doesn’t talk about the jobs or the cars first—he talks about the people. Meeting customers, connecting with co-workers, sharing moments at golf tournaments, and being part of community events. “You think you’re just working in a shop, but you meet so many people and learn so much. I’d do the last forty years here again.”

Now, Steve is setting his sights on new adventures—planning trips to England, Alberta, and BC, and looking forward to quality time with his his wife, kids and his granddaughter. While he’s ready to explore life beyond the shop, this isn’t goodbye forever. Steve plans to stay connected with the Carstar family and looks forward to catching up with friends at future events.

Thank you, Steve, for nearly five decades of dedication, skill, and heart. Carstar is what it is because of you, and your legacy will always be part of our story.
